My internship experience was extremely beneficial to my academic and career development. Dualogics is a small company with only 3 other employees. I worked directly with the CTO to develop cell culture assays for evaluating lead molecules for T cell redirectors. Throughout my internship, I felt my expertise was valued and I was able to contribute to projects in meaningful ways.

I completed my summer internship at Intellia Therapeutics, a genome editing company Cambridge, MA that focuses on making CRISPR/Cas9-based medicines for treating genetic diseases. I was an intern in the New Therapeutic Areas group, the role of which is to perform initial experiments to determine which potential new disease targets and technologies are worth pursuing. The position was fulfilling because it was straightforward to transfer my previous research skills to my new project, while still learning new skills and adapting to a different environment with abundant resources. I also had the opportunity to interact with people from all areas of the company, from attending research meetings with the Hematology group, going to lunch workshops developed by the legal team, or socializing at various events with the full spectrum of employees, from research technicians to the CSO and CEO. It was a wonderful experience for my professional development and helped me start thinking about what type of roles I may be interested in after graduating.
