The Duke Center for Biomolecular and Tissue Engineering (CBTE) will be accepting applications for the NIH T32 Ruth L. Kirschstein Training Grant Fellowships to begin September 1, 2025.
Eligibility:
Six NIH T32-supported fellowships will be awarded to rising second-year Duke PhD students in CBTE core faculty labs. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. Students who already hold other fellowships will be ineligible if these fellowships pay a stipend that equals or exceeds the departmental level. If students are on a fellowship that pays less than the departmental stipend, they will be eligible but will only be paid the difference.
In addition, we have one slot available for the Lews Fellowship, which is available to a rising second-year Duke graduate student in a PhD program who is not a U.S. citizen.
Selection:
Awardees will be selected by the CBTE Steering Committee. Committee members will recuse themselves from rating an applicant if they serve as the primary or co-adviser of that student.
Funding:
The fellowship recipients will receive a stipend of approximately $38,600 per year, and payment of a portion of tuition and fees. The fellowship also provides a travel/supply award of ~$1,000. This is a two-year fellowship (provided we receive the funding) from September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2027.
