Romel, originally from Peru, obtained his B.S. from the University of South Carolina at Columbia in May 2013. He then started his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Duke under the supervision of Dr. Gabriel Lopez. As of July 2015, Romel has joined the lab of Dr. Michael Lynch.
